Damiana Herbal Love Potion

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, but you still have time to make an herbal love elixir! This recipe is from our new book Herbal Love Potions: Natural Recipes to Celebrate Romance and Sensuality.

An aphrodisiac cordial to share with your sweetie or use for yourself, this herbal love elixir can be used as a daily tonic to support and strengthen the reproductive system. It can also be used for that special evening of romance. Let it increase your libido, excite your senses, and relax your mind.

  • 1 ounce damiana (Turnera diffusa)
  • 1 ounce saw palmetto (Serenoa spp.)
  • 1 ounce passion flower (Passiflora incarnata)
  • 1/2 ounce American ginseng (Panax quinquifolium)
  • 1/2 ounce rose petals (Rosa spp.)
  • 6 crushed cardamom pods (Elettaria cardamomum)
  • 3 cups (24 ounces) brandy
  • 1/2 cup honey

Add all herbs to a blender and blend 1 – 2 minutes. Pour on a quart sized canning jar and add the brandy. Let soak for at least 1 week, shaking every day. Pour herbs through a coffee filter to remove pieces. Add honey and stir well. Toast to your love with this delightful cordial for you and that special someone.

  2. I have made this it is very dark green in colour, from the herbs can you recommend adding anything to make it look lovely ? Thank you

    • Hi Catherine,
      That dark green color is a great indication that you have used high quality herbs. Good job! I personally love that color, but to make it more beautiful, I’d think about presentation. Maybe some rose petals in the drink, or add it to a sparkling cider with sliced oranges. Here are some other thoughts from my Herbal Switchel article.
